This family owned and operated business got its name from
the ever so popular TV show Bonanza.......the family Ranch
was called Ponderosa. Because the Heinlein family liked the
show and related to it so they decided to name their 250 acre
golf course Ponderosa Golf Lands. Ponderosa was
established in 1965 by the late Herbert Heinlein. Mike (son)
and Jan (daughter) now run the day to day duties of the
course, restaurant and bar with the help of their sons along
with extended family and close friends.

Mike was raised with a golf club in one hand and a work ethic in the other hand. He loved working on the golf course and
making sure it was one of the best courses around. He worked tirelessly on the turf, the landscaping, and the business.
He brought it from and average 18 hole course and snack bar, to a championship course with a restaurant and banquet
facility. Upon his sudden and unexpected death on July 13th, 2016 this responsibility was passed to his wife, sons,
sister and nephew. The family is doing their best to maintain the incredible business that he devoted his life to.
